Our Activities Program for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in Virginia is a comprehensive community engagement service designed around each person’s individualized support plan.

Our mission is to empower adults with disabilities to gain independence, enhance social and communication skills, and explore meaningful community involvement while maintaining personal choice and dignity.

Our Community Engagement Program provides diverse, person-centered activities that promote learning, inclusion, and personal growth. Participants enjoy structured opportunities to interact with others, gain new experiences, and develop critical life skills in real-world environments.

Reliable Transportation
We make it easy for participants to stay active in the community. Our 6-passenger van and assistance with Medicaid-supported transportation ensure safe and dependable travel to daily activities, appointments, and events.

Nutritious Meals and Snacks
During full-day programs, participants enjoy balanced meals and healthy snacks that keep them energized and ready to learn throughout the day.

Community Classes and Guest Presenters
We bring the community to life through engaging classes led by local presenters and professionals. From creative workshops to practical life lessons, participants gain valuable experiences that build confidence and connection.

Food Service & Nutrition Education
Led by licensed ServSafe professionals, our food service management component teaches safe food handling, meal preparation, and healthy living habits helping participants build skills for greater independence at home and in the workplace.

Independent Living Skills Training
Through hands-on instruction, we guide individuals in learning essential daily living skills such as budgeting, communication, and community navigation empowering them to make confident, informed choices.

Medication Management Support
Our team provides gentle, reliable support with medication management to promote wellness and consistency in each participant’s daily routine.

At our core, we’re more than a program we’re a bridge to independence, connection, and community.

Each participant works with a trained Direct Support Professional (DSP), matched based on individual goals and preferences. Together, they explore activities that promote positive social behaviors, interpersonal competence, and employability skills helping each individual reach their highest level of independence.

Services are offered in small group settings across Virginia, ensuring that every participant receives individualized attention and support. All activities are planned collaboratively, respecting each person’s interests, daily routines, and support needs. Our activity schedules are flexible and designed to match each person’s lifestyle and abilities. Through community-based learning experiences, individuals are encouraged to function independently, engage in self-discovery, and pursue new interests.

Common activities include:

• Volunteer Work: Food pantry assistance, community clean-ups, or neighborhood outreach.
   
• Learning Experiences: Book clubs, art classes, and self-help workshops.
   
• Recreation: Bowling, dancing, swimming, and movies.
   
• Wellness & Fitness: Walking groups, gym memberships, health awareness activities, ie.
   
• Social & Peer Support: Building friendships and participating in group outings.
   
• Employment Support: Job coaching, workplace navigation, time management, and micro-business development.
   
• Creative Expression: Painting, gardening, photography, or music.
   
• Personal Care & Self-Expression: Hair and nail services, self-advocacy, and confidence-building.
